Work

I’ve had quite a varied background - I’ve been a modern languages teacher, I’ve worked in sales and then I went back to university to do a conversion Masters in IT.   Having done that I was awarded a studentship to stay on and do a DPhil in the Dept. Of Computer Science at York.  The DPhil became an exploration of distributed Communities of Practice.

I then got a part time job as a Knowledge Management consultant and network administrator for Inkopo, in West Yorkshire.  When I was made redundant I set up SecuriQuest and K-Now International.  SecuriQuest started off handling the Protector Card, an innovative little gadget that could recover a PC from any software based problem.  We then moved into other innovative products and ended up focusing on technology transfer with some IT consultancy.

Out of my SecuriQuest work came

which ended up taking over my life and meant I had to close SecuriQuest down as I didn’t have time to devote to it.

K-Now International still exists, but mainly as a vehicle for my Knowledge Management writing which I still do occasionally.  As part of my DPhil  I obviously had to write conference and journal papers and I continued to do a little of that to keep my name known, however I just don’t have the time any more.
